Hello

Teaching is one my favorite things to do. I guide my students to success in whatever their unique goals and dreams are, just as my teachers helped me to get where I am today.

If you don’t know what your goals are yet, that’s okay too! I’m here to help you find what sets your heart on fire and to fearlessly pursue it. After that, t’s all practice and [fun] hard work from there. I’m here to teach you how to be the best you can be in whatever form that takes for you.

Here’s a little introduction video from me about what’s important to me as a teacher. >>

Teaching Philosophy &Experience

All of McKenna’s teaching is based on one principle: that every single student she sees is capable of being an incredible artist. In this holistic teaching style, McKenna emphasizes the student’s connection to the music and their development as an artist as the foundations for all of their technical work. McKenna teaches all genres, and focuses on students 10+.

To facilitate the most possible growth for her students, McKenna integrates her expertise in growth mindset, sports/leadership psychology, entrepreneurship, and design thinking into her teaching. Every student’s lessons are individualized to suit their different genres and interests. Through this, McKenna’s students have gained confidence, increased access to their own creativity, and experienced a more rooted sense of self in their daily lives.

McKenna has experience living and performing abroad, holds a Northwestern University education, and has a background in a wide array of academic and creative pursuits. Through all of this, she makes it her mission to connect with and learn from each of her students, while offering the perspective of a wider lens on theater and music in the world
